Violet Town Market Away Day

10/01/2015 @ 10:30 am3:00 pm

Free

Banner-market

Founded in 1978 Violet Town community market is one of Victoria premier country markets. Approximately 250 stalls of fresh produce, arts, crafts, jewellery, wine tastings, plants, tools, furniture and more. Amongst the stalls are some of my favorites Kay’s Krunchies – all manner of natural dog treats , the dog bed and bedding stall – dogs love the beds. The Cheese Man – makes his own varieties of cheeses – and sells out fast! Locally made wines and olive oils, locally grown produce, locally produced meats.

The market includes live music and hot food and coffee is available for purchase. The market is a smoke free zone. Entry is free although a gold coin donation to a local organisation of the month is appreciated. Unfortunately, the market is not dog friendly! The Club will endeavour to make provision for a doggie creche to enable everyone to peruse the market at leisure – more about this will be posted on our facebook page and website. However, you may prefer to leave dogs at home and just come and enjoy the market.

How to get there: Violet Town is approximately 180km (or 2 hours) from central Melbourne. From Melbourne take the Hume freeway all the way. Violet Town lies immediately off the freeway.

Please note: If the temperature for Violet Town area is forecast above 35 degrees on the ABC news the night prior, the event will be Basenji free – please leave all dogs at home in the cool. Watch our facebook and twitter feeds for any updates.

Non VBBA members are very welcome to attend, with or without a Basenji. If you are considering one as a companion this is an idea opportunity meet breeders, Basenjis and their owners.
